On the season finale of Best Friend’s Date, Stacey Farber helped to pick dates for her fellow Degrassite Aubrey Graham and his best friend Ali Mukaddam from Radio Free Roscoe. I got her on the phone for a few minutes to ask her about what we didn’t see on TV…

The-Seth: So we should explain that we didn’t just randomly assign you to this show. You know Aubrey very well.

Stacey: Aubrey and I have been really good friends since we started doing Degrassi together three years ago. And he and Ali are very close.

The-Seth: The first thing I wanted to ask you about is some of those clues that you gave the girls to help them make presents for Ali and Aubrey.

Stacey: Those clues were worded really weirdly. I don’t know who wrote them.

The-Seth: It wasn’t me. What was the clue about Ali, “parles vous Pacino”?

Stacey: Oh, I think that’s just because he likes Al Pacino.

The-Seth: Hm. The fist clue for Aubrey was “one man band.”

Stacey: “One man band” probably has to do with him loving music and wanting to pursue a solo career in it.

The-Seth: Uh-huh. “Dinner for two”?

Stacey: Maybe he said on some questionnaire that he’s romantic or something.

The-Seth: Okay. “MC Fresh”?

Stacey: That could have to do with rapping, but I have no idea.

The-Seth: I see. So the clues offer no great insights into their personalities. Moving on… You and Aubrey had kind of a disagreement about who to pick for Ali.

Stacey: Aubrey liked Erin. I liked Erin as well, but I thought that the runner-up, Bailey, would’ve been a really great choice. Because I got to talk to her a bit more inbetween filming the episode, and we talked about school, and fashion, and she just seemed like a really nice, honest girl. I think Ali would’ve had a lot of fun with her.

The-Seth: Aubrey vetoed you on that one. What did you think of Candice, Ali’s choice for Aubrey?

Stacey: When Candice first walked in, I wasn’t sure what to think. She was dressed in hot pink. She looked like a Paris Hilton wannabe. Honestly, I thought it was funny. She would probably have been my last choice when I first saw her. I wouldn’t have thought to put her with Aubrey. But once I got to know her and I got to talk to all the girls, I realized that she was the best match for him.

The-Seth: So when you introduced the girls to the guys, what were you thinking? Did you think the date would actually work?

Stacey: I knew they’d have a good time, because Ali and Aubrey are really very funny. I knew that they’d treat the girls with respect and just have fun no matter who they went with. So I wasn’t worried in that sense. But I don’t think I expected anyone to start a relationship or exchange phone numbers or anything like that. I just knew the four of them would have a good time together.

The-Seth: What did you do when they were all out riding the tour bus and whatever?

Stacey: I went shopping. *laughs*

The-Seth: Oh hey, I couldn’t believe that bit on the bus when Aubrey started serenading Candice. He’s got an incredible voice! Did you know that?

Stacey: I’ve heard him sing. I have a CD he made me of some songs he’s been working on, but it’s mostly rap, and then he sings the chorus. He is really good. He loves music. He writes stuff; he records in a studio; he does it all.

The-Seth: Awesome. So Aubrey and Candice kind of hit it off, but Erin didn’t seem too into Ali.

Stacey: I actually thought that Aubrey and Erin got along really well. Maybe that’s just because Aubrey gets along with everyone, but I thought Aubrey and Erin got along better than Ali and Erin. I don’t know, maybe if there had been different circumstances or they lived in the same city, maybe they would have stayed friends.

The-Seth: So would you have let either of the guys pick a date for you like that?

Stacey: I don’t know. I don’t know if I could trust someone doing that. I’m a very picky person. Like, I’m single right now. I’m willing to be friends with anyone, but I’m not that open to relationships. I guess a date is harmless and I could do that, but I’d be nervous for sure having someone else choose a date for me.

Look for Stacey in new episodes of Degrassi, starting Friday at 8:30 et.
